SM095: Peppermint Boy - Stunning New Pieces for Harp & Clarsach

Cover ImagePeppermint Boy

Peppermint Boy is a book of pieces written by a new generation of harpists. The pieces are fresh and different and mostly not dauntingly difficult to play! It does help, however, if you also have the CD to listen to. It contains recordings of all the pieces played by the composers themselves. It is time the harp repertoire received an offering from the youth culture and this collection is very important in this respect.

Notes and Credits

Peppermint Boy is a book of pieces written by a new generation of harpists. The pieces are fresh and different and mostly not dauntingly difficult to play! It does help, however, if you also have the CD to listen to. It contains recordings of all the pieces played by the composers themselves. It is time the harp repertoire received an offering from the youth culture and this collection is very important in this respect.

All the students who have written these pieces hope that others will enjoy playing them and will be inspired to write for the harp themselves. Most of them, with a little ingenuity, can be played equally well on the clarsach.

Apologies are due to Will Stahl whose piece Lucie ‘s Song although reproduced in full in this book, has strangely arrived on the CD in a shortened version.

The students pictured on the front cover are (from left to right):
Rebecca Witts, Julia Hollier, Laura Mathison, Verity Weatherburn,
Elaine Basker, Josie Aggio, Will Stahl,
Daniele Ducroquet-Lavin and Libby Hopton.
