A0235-CD: Dragons

Dragons by Triban

CD Cover Triban is a British trio based in deepest Dyfed (hence the CD’s title no doubt!), comprising harpist Harriet Earis, singer/songwriter/guitarist Ian Wyn Rowlands and fiddle player Jasper Salmon. Their backgrounds vary: Harriet, though classically-trained, now specialises in the celtic harp, and Jasper was a member of Back To Basics with Clive and Beccy Carroll, whereas Ian, as well as having founded the bands Abenaki and Tra Bo Dau, already performs in a solo capacity. When these three talented individuals come together to form the unique mix that is Triban, they perform both original and traditional material, sensitively and in a flowing, graceful style. She plays extensively throughout Britain and abroad, having toured widely on both sides of the Atlantic. She won the 'Harper of All Britain' prize in 2000 and in 2002 and the Danny Kyle award at Celtic Connections 2007. She has gained a reputation internationally as an extremely talented and expressive harpist. Singer, songwriter and guitarist, IAN WYN ROWLANDS has been described by T.V personality Lyn Ebenezer as 'one of the best undiscovered talents performing in Wales today'. In recent years, Ian has been performing professionally as a solo guitarist and singer playing original material and traditional ballads in both Welsh and English. A founder member of bands 'Tra Bo Dau' and 'Abenaki', and having published two albums with them, Ian is busy preparing new material for a third solo album. JASPER SALMON has been playing the fiddle since the age of eight. After some time playing in pubs and clubs round Essex, he studied violin and viola at Colchester Institute School of Music, where he joined forces with Clive Carroll and Beccy Carroll as the trio 'Back To Basics' playing widely around the UK festival and folk music scene throughout the 1990s. He has appeared as a session player on numerous albums and played in a variety of acts from bluegrass to prog rock.
