SM0598 Renovations & Mixit

Renovations & Mixit
Harp Ensemble or Solo Harp & Loop Pedal
Shelley Fairplay

Cover Image Renovations was inspired by a duo improvisation with harpist friend Helen Barley during a very noisy kitchen refit! You will find ‘the drill’ and various other themes to play around with. Whilst Mixit is a piece where you can mix up the different sections it’s title is actually taken from the name of a cottage Shelley was staying in when she wrote the music. With both pieces, each performer can simply learn and play whichever sections are easy and enjoyable to play, so long as the basic chord structure is followed the music will all fit together. For soloists performing with loop pedal, each part may be layered up until you have full sound with as many of the parts playing at the same time as you like. To switch between the A and B section in Renovations you will need to start playing the new section whilst deleting and preparing to record again with the loop station. If you have any questions feel free to email Shelley via her website www.HarpWales.com The set contains two copies of this book with both pieces, one for you and one for a friend!

RENOVATIONS and MIXIT Information:

Scored for 2 or more harps (or solo harpist with loop pedal). The more the merrier!

Can be played on Celtic or Pedal harp (and with a little adaption on Lap harp).

Aimed at a mixed ability group, beginner harpists can repeat just one or two themes/ sections/basslines whilst more advanced players can learn as many of the sections as possible!

MIXIT is in swing-time so really relax and enjoy the rhythms.

In both pieces performers are encouraged to use the chord progressions to improvise and create their own ideas to add to the ones provided in this book.
