Inessa Galante was born in Riga, Latvia where she studied at the Music Academy. She began her career at the Latvian National Opera in Riga and was soon heard in other ‘Eastern’ countries, most notably, Russia where she became a regular guest at the Kirov Opera St Petersburg and performed in Moscow, Kiev and Odessa.

She made her triumphant debut in the West as PAMINA/Die Zauberflöte in Mannheim. Acclaimed performances followed throughout Europe; Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Köln, Paris and Luxembourg in roles such as NEDDA/I Pagliacci, MIMI, LAURETTA/Gianni Schicchi, CORINA/Il Viaggio a Reims, ELVIRA/Don Giovanni, BUTTERFLY, LIU, VIOLETTA, GILDA, MARGUERITE, MAGDA/La Rondine, MICAELA and LUCIA.

In the USA she has appeared with Florida Grand Opera, Baltimore Opera and Michigan Opera, all in productions of La Boheme.

She has a considerable concert repertoire, which includes the Requiems of Verdi, Mozart and Brahms, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Mahler’s 2nd Symphony. These she has performed in festivals such as Montpellier, Saint-Denis, Newport, Israel, Evian and Nancy.

In London she has appeared at the Royal Albert Hall and at the Barbican with the London Symphony Orchestra as well as in recital at the Wigmore Hall, (with Roger Vignoles) which was recorded by the BBC.

Inessa Galante has made eight commercial CDs, the first of which, Debut, included the performance of Caccini's 'Ave Maria, which has since become a cult hit and went gold then platinum in the Netherlands. Other recordings include The Tchaikovsky Experience on BMG with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden conducted by Neeme Jarvi for which she was named “Best Tatiana” of the last twenty years. Arietta, which was recorded in St Silas Church, London accompanied by London Musici, was voted Best Recording of the Year by the BBC.

Recent engagements include BUTTERFLY for Michigan Opera, Latvian National Opera and Gothenburg Opera, ADRIANA LECOUVREUR at the Bolshoi, Moscow and the Marjinski, St Petersburg, AMELIA/Ballo in Maschera in Riga, AIDA at the Bolshoi, and with Scottish Opera and concerts with the Royal Liverpool Orchestra (Carl Davies).

Future plans include, BUTTERFLY for the Norske Opera, Oslo, MANON LESCAUT for The Royal Swedish Opera, Stockholm>concerts in Helsinki, Newport, Sydney, Melbourne, Essen, Holland, Korea and a new recording project.
